Our Family
In 2021 the Archdiocese of Omaha embarked on a reorganization process named the Journey of Faith. As this process developed the parishes of St. Benedict the Moor, Sacred Heart, and St. John's were asked to enter into a family relationship together. Sacred Heart and St. Benedict are a single-pastor family, and St. John's joins the family with its own pastor (as a Jesuit work and parish of the archdiocese St. John's pastor is named by the Provincial for our region and approved by the local Archbishop). Since that time these three parishes have identified ourselves as the Historic 24th Street Family of Parishes. We have been working together to find areas of collaboration that enrich all three parish communities.
While each of these three parishes is essentially a "commuter parish" (whose parishioners do not reside within our traditional parish boundaries) we are deeply committed to being the presence of the Catholic Church to our area of Omaha.
Below you will find staff members who are also in leadership for our Family of Parishes discernment process. For a more full staff listing, visit the website of each parish respectively.
